Happy Saturday everyone!

This is a project I actually finished up a few weeks ago, but I'm just now getting around to writing it up.   It's one of those cute little chalkboard frames that I have been seeing EVERYWHERE! All over Pinterest, absolutely everywhere I'm telling you.  And I just love the thought of chalkboards they are classic, and they are so easy to change up a space.

One of my favorites is over at This Little Estate where there is a small collage of chalkboard frames isn't that precious!

The items you are going to need are a bottle of chalkboard paint (you can use the spray type if you wish), a sponge brush, spray paint, sandpaper, chalk, and I used bistro markers to do the actual writing but you can sharpen the chalk and use that to write.




As you can see in this picture I was going to try to use a stencil to do the lettering on the chalkboard, but the bistro markers were just too watery for it to really work.  I have a feeling if you just sharpen some chalk and try that it will work out wonderfully!

The frame is a jewel from the local thrift store and it was purchased at the same time as the tray for the chalkboard tray I made (you can see that post here).  The mat in the frame was some strange shade of pink and the art in it was just the generic reprint of some artwork, but that didn't matter I just looked for a nifty looking frame that was in pretty decent shape.



The frame was a really dark color, so I lightened it up by using the same Krylon paint I used for the tray.  I had seen another post about this that left the glass in the frame, so I thought I would give it a shot.  Overall I think there are around 6 coats of the chalkboard paint on the glass.  The key here is to really let it dry overnight before you even try to rub any kind of chalk on it  (take it from me, I messed it up a couple times because I was so excited to see the final product).   On a side note you should probably put a primer on the glass before you go crazy with the chalkboard paint as well just to keep it from peeling back off.

The last thing I did was take some sand paper to the frame to give a little bit of a distress.
