My oh my it has been quite a while since I have posted on here!  I started a new job at the end of April and I have been incredibly busy since that time.  (I know this is an excuse you have heard before!)  I honestly haven't had the time to keep up with product launches in a while; however, I was scrolling YouTube several weeks ago now and I saw a review of these Maybelline Color Jolt lip paints, and I knew I needed to try them out for myself.


When I saw the packaging Maybelline used for the product I immediately thought of the Too Faced Melted lipsticks.  As it turns out the product is incredibly similar, and I found three dupes in my collection.  The Maybelline Color Jolts have the same applicator as the Too Faced lipsticks, and apply in a very similar fashion.   The Maybelline product contains 0.21 ounces of product and retail for $9.99 at Ulta while the full sized Too Faced Melted lipsticks contain 0.4 ounces and retail for $21.   It is clear that the Maybelline ones are not a steal; however, it is nice to see an alternative being sold in drug stores.


Overall the colors apply smoothly much like the Too Faced ones.   In my opinion the Maybelline ones remain more comfortable on the lips, and wear off fairly evenly.   You will have to be careful because the product does wear off in a ring on the inside of the lip; however, I found that with the light colors it isn't too big of an issue.  There are eight colors in the line; however, I only purchased six because the purple and orange I would never use.  The first color I bought was Stripped Down which is the brown toned nude in the collection.  This is the type of color I reach for on a daily basis and can wear with nearly everything.  


The next swatch I have is #05 Stripped Down.  As I mentioned above, this is the first one I purchased from the collection.  I tested it out at work for nearly a week before I even decided to buy the rest of these.   If you like the brown toned lipstick trend, you will like this one as well.   I found that it lasted nearly half the work day and my lips never felt dry or cracked.  I don't have a dupe for this one in my collection; however, I'm sure it is similar to one of the other colors in the Too Faced collection.


The next swatch is #15 Fight Me Fuchsia (does anyone else have trouble spelling that color).  This one is obviously the hot pink of the collection, and it is very bold.  If you are a fan of Too Faced's Fuchsia, you will love this one since it is nearly identical.


The next swatch is #25 Talk Back Red.  This color is a classic warm toned red that is opaque and vibrant in one swipe.


The next color I have is #30 Red-dy Or Not.  Of the two classic reds in this collection this one is my favorite.   I tend to gravitate toward more blue toned red shades for my lips because my teeth are yellowed from coffee.


The final color I have is #35 Berry Naughty.  This is a typical berry color that will be great for fall and winter.  This color is almost identical to Berry by Too Faced.  This is a color that will need to be babied carefully if you don't use a lip liner.  As you can see in the above photo the color is bleeding outside the lip line slightly.

Overall the Color Jolt lip colors are comfortable to wear, and the two lighter colors are great to wear without having to worry about the color getting everywhere.   The color lasts even after the gloss wears off, and remains comfortable for hours.  My only complaint with the product is the price.  In my opinion these are priced very high for the drug store.
