Fairmount Beauty

Hey guys,

Today I have a little DIY project for you.   This project was born out of looking at the Z Palettes.   I realized that I had entirely too many single shadows, but I didn't want to pay $20 for the Z Palette.  So I went to YouTube to see what people were doing for a DIY Z Palette,  most were using a DVD case for theirs; however, I felt that it would be too flimsy to keep my shadows in good condition.

So with that in mind, I went to Hobby Lobby and saw these jewelry boxes in the cardboard craft supplies for $3.99 each.  They came with a ring holder in them, and I just pulled it out.  I already had black paint, and I used chalkboard paper that was on sale for 99 cents each for the top, so I would be able to identify each palette.   From Wal-Mart I picked up these kids craft magnetic sheets and cut them to fit in the bottom of the box.

The next thing I did was paint the rest of the box black, inside and outside.   While the paint was drying, I used my straightener and wax paper to depot my shadows.  If you guys want a video on how to depot shadows, leave me a comment below and I will be more than happy to make one for you.  Once the shadows were out and cooled, I took small pieces of magnets and stuck those to the bottom, then labeled each shadow.

Overall, I am really happy with how these turned out.  All of my single shadows are easy to find now, and it cost me about the same that it would for one Z Palette!

Again if y'all want a video on how to depot shadows, let me know!
