Scenic City Cosmetics
Hey guys!
I hope everyone is staying dry today! I know it is has been raining here all morning, and unfortunately I had to get out in it. Needless to say traffic was at a near stop everywhere I went.
Anyway, if you read my last post about my new storage system you saw me mention my new business venture, Scenic City Cosmetics. Today I am going to share the photos of the items I am including in the initial launch on my Etsy shop. If you want to go ahead and jump to the shop you can click on this link.
I have thought about launching my own line of cosmetics for several years now, so I finally decided that now is the right time. Coincidentally the very same day that I decided to work on this new adventure was the same day that I lost my job. I have had encouragement from everyone that I know, and now it is official Scenic City Cosmetics is open for business.
If you are unfamiliar, I was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, which has been given the nickname "Scenic City". I intend to draw inspiration for my products from things that surround me here in this beautiful city. This includes places such as Sunset Rock on Lookout Mountain, and my favorite place for a quick jog, Greenway Farms. Currently I am offering only eyeshadows; however, I fully intend on offering lip products, blushes, and much more as I expand my brand.
In my shop I currently offer two sizes of my eyeshadows, 15mm pans for $5.00, and 26mm pans for $7.50. I will also be offering collections of shadows where you will be able to purchase five to ten shadows together for a discount. All of the shadows I offer are pressed into a tin pan. The tin pans allow for the pan to stick in a magnetic palette without the use of another magnet. I recommend using all of my shadows with a good eye primer to prevent any creasing and to increase longevity.
The first shadow in my collection is Aretha's. Aretha's is a matte cream shadow inspired by the fluffy pancakes that Aretha Frankenstein's is known for. Aretha Frankenstein's is a restaurant that is tucked away in the North Shore area of Chattanooga, and it it worth trying to get in there for a good breakfast if you can find it. This particular shadow works best when used with a brush and most often I use it to set my primer. I find all shadows I apply with this method will blend out easier. This shadow is also great for a soft highlight on the inner lid, or under the brow bone. I currently have this shadow in stock in both 15mm and 26mm pans.
The next shadow I have in stock is Bama. This shadow is inspired by the colors of the University of Alabama. Here in Chattanooga there are a ton of Crimson Tide fans including myself, so Roll Tide! Often I reach for a flat shadow brush and use this shadow on the outer half of the lid. If you want a deep crimson smokey eye this shadow would work well! I currently have this shadow in stock in both 15mm and 26mm pans.
The next shadow I offer is Blackberry. This deep purple shadow is inspired by the ripe blackberries I picked off of the bushes near my childhood home in the middle of the hot summers. I can still remember the exact field that we would go and find those delicious wild berries. Unfortunately that field has long since been mowed and a house has gone up in that spot. But I also enjoy picking them up at the grocery store where I don't have to deal with briar patches and snakes!
I recommend patting this shadow on at least twice for maximum color payoff. Often I reach for a flat shadow brush and use it on the outer half of the lid. If you want a deep purple smokey eye this shadow would work well! I currently have this shadow in stock in both 15mm and 26mm pans.
The next shadow in my collection is 3. This deep black eyeshadow has a slight amount of silver glitter and is inspired by the legendary Intimidator, Dale Earnhardt Sr. Enjoy 3 and think of the legendary car flying around the high banks of Daytona! I usually reach for an angled liner brush, and use 3 as a soft eyeliner on the upper lids; however, 3 can also be used to deepen the outer corner of the eye or as a smokey lid. Currently I only have this shadow listed in 26mm pans; however, I will likely be posting it in a 15mm pan soon.
The next shadow in my collection is Cherry Cola. This is a medium brown with cherry red undertones inspired by that bubbly refreshing soda that I am currently enjoying as I type this. I can remember drinking this soda on my grandmother's porch on hot summer days. Most often I reach for a flat shadow brush and pack this shadow in the center to the outer half of the lid for a warm toned eye. Currently I have this shadow in stock in both 15mm and 26mm pans.
The next shadow in my collection is inspired by my favorite adult drink and is one of my favorite shadows in my collection. Coke & Whiskey is a deep brown shadow that has a bit of gold glitter in it. I reach for a flat shadow brush and pack this shadow on the middle to outer half of the lid most often; however, this shadow is perfect for creating a deep brown eye for a slightly smoky eye. Currently I have this shadow in stock in both 15mm and 26mm pans.
Next in the collection is Confederate which is a medium grey shadow inspired by the uniform of the confederate soldiers. If you are familiar with the Civil War you will know that there were several battles around the Chattanooga area, and we have several beautiful parks to visit when you are in town. Usually I reach for a flat shadow brush and use it on the inner half of the lid. This shadow looks great paired with Railroad and 3 for a cool toned look. I suggest using Greenway in the crease to warm the look up as well. Currently I have this shadow in stock in both 15mm and 26mm pans.
The next shadow in the collection is Greenway. This warm matte brown shadow is inspired by the trails at Greenway Farms which is the park that I like to visit for a jog. This park has several shaded trails that loop along Chickamauga Creek and even a cabin with some rocking chairs that make for a nice place to stop and think. Often I will reach for a fluffy brush and blend this into the crease as my transition color. I will also reach for a flat brush to pack this color onto the inner half of the lid for a warm natural eye look. Currently I have Greenway in stock in both 15mm and 26mm pans.
The next shadow in the collection is Mocs. This yellow gold shadow is inspired by the colors of the local university, the University of Tennessee Chattanooga (UTC). Usually I will reach for a flat shadow brush and use this shadow on the inner half of the lid. Currently I only have this shadow listed in 26mm pans; however, I do plan on listing it in 15mm pans as well.
The next shadow is Railroad which is a deep grey shadow that is inspired by the steel of the railroad many railroad and trolley tracks you will see in the Scenic City. When you are in town you can still take a ride on the Incline Railway up the side of Lookout Mountain, or visit the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum for a ride on a passenger train. Usually I reach for a flat shadow brush and use it on the outer half of the lid. If you want a deep grey smokey eye this shadow would work well! Currently I only have this shadow in stock in 26mm pans; however, I plan on posting it in 15mm pans soon.
The next shadow I have listed is Raspberry which is inspired by the rich color of the ripe fruit and is more of a satin finish shadow. This is my favorite fruit to pick up from the large Farmer's Market in downtown in the summertime, and it makes a refreshing summer snack when frozen. Most often I will reach for a flat shadow brush and use it on the center of the lid for a fun pop of color. I currently have this shadow in stock in both 15mm and 26mm pans.
The next shadow in the collection is Sunset Rock which is a warm sunset orange shadow inspired by the colors of the sky you will see when you watch the sun set from Sunset Rock atop Lookout Mountain. Typically I reach for a flat shadow brush and use it on the lid for a warm look. I have this shadow in stock in both 15mm and 26mm pans.
The next shadow in the collection is Whiskey. This amber shadow is inspired by the warm amber color of whiskey. There are many wonderful distilleries in Tennessee including the most famous one, Jack Daniels. Normally I reach for a flat shadow brush and use it on the inner lid for a warm look. Currently I have this shadow in stock in both 15mm and 26mm pans.
The final shadow I have in the collection is White Pine which is another one of my favorite shadows. White Pine is inspired by the large white pine trees in the yard of my childhood home. These massive trees are common in the Scenic City, and you will see them along the trails when you take a hike in the area. Often I reach for a flat shadow brush and pack it on the lid for a deep green eye. I have this shadow in stock in both 15mm and 26mm pans.
Again if you want to visit my shop on Etsy you can click this link. Like I have mentioned above I offer shadows in both 15mm pans and 26mm pans and I am working on more shades to offer! I am looking forward to exploring this new business adventure and I hope you will enjoy any shadow you purchase from me!
