Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip Review

by - October 26, 2015

Hey guys!

I have a quick review for the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip kit.  Currently the kit is sold out online, but check your local stores.   Of course if there is a product in the kit you want they are all sold at Sephora.  I am going to be 100% honest and say that I bought this kit just to try Kat Von D's Lolita since it is always sold out in my store.  Personally I am glad I tried it in the smaller size, because I don't think the color is flattering on me.

If you are unfamiliar, Sephora puts together several kits during the holiday season every year.  There are kits for anything you could imagine: lip products, eye liners, skin care.  There is something for everyone in these kits.

As you can see the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip kit comes with six products for $25.  In this kit the only two products I have tried previously are the Fresh Sugar Rose lip treatment and the Sephora Rouge Infusion; however, this is a new color to my collection.   With all of that being said let's talk about each product!

Above is the Fresh Sugar Rose lip treatment.  Like I mentioned I have tried this product in the past.  Several years back this same product was in the birthday gift from Sephora.  I have to admit that I am not totally in love with these lip treatments.  They are not anything incredibly special to me, and they are really expensive for what they are.   The full size retails for $22.50 for .15 oz of product and this sample size is .08 oz.

The next product in the kit is a Makeup For Ever Artist Plexi Gloss in 202.  This particular shade is a light peach which is rather sheer; the Sephora website describes it as a sweet pink (sheer).   The gloss itself feels nice, but it doesn't provide much color.  The applicator is actually really flexible and I found that it applies more gloss than necessary.  The full size retails for $19 for .23 oz and the sample size is .10 oz.

The next product in the kit is the Sephora Rouge Infusion Lip Stain in Peony.  I mentioned above that I have tried this product in a different shade in the past.  I really like these for the days where I am too lazy to wear a lip product that I am going to have to babysit.  These are a bit sticky until they dry, but they dry within a minute or so.  The full sizes retail for $14 for .15 oz of product and as of this moment they are on sale for $7.  The sample size in the kit is .068 oz.

The next product I was excited to try in this kit is the Marc Jacobs Le Mark Lip Crème in Je T'Aime.  Do not even ask me how to say that shade name because I am the worst at French.  However, a fun fact is the phrase translates to I love you (thanks Google).  This shade is a beautiful rose color and in my opinion the photo doesn't really do it much justice.  In person this shade is vibrant, but that could be my opinion because I typically gravitate toward mauve-nudes.  As for the formula of this lipstick, it is not quite what I expected.  It is very opaque, and appears very creamy; however, it isn't nearly as comfortable as I expected.  It certainly does last for a long time on my lips, and it leaves a stain but I was expecting it to be much more comfortable considering the full size retails for $30 for .12 oz of product.  This sample size is .03 oz of product.

The next product in the kit is the Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Coral Blossom.  This is the only full sized product in the kit.  Honestly I love the packaging on this lipstick.  I really find it to be cute and the lipstick itself has a minty scent to it that isn't terribly over powering.  These coral shades never look right on my skin tone, but I would be interested in trying this formula in another color.  I actually used a little bit of this lipstick on some of the darkest parts of my under eye circles and it worked quite well under my concealer.  This is an interesting trick that I have been wanting to test out for some time.  Now back to our regularly scheduled program.  The Tarte lipsticks come in nine colors and retail for $17 each.

As mentioned above the reason I purchased this kit was to try out the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita.  From what I understand there are two versions of this liquid lipstick, and I have to say that this version doesn't really suit my skintone very well.  The photo above shows the more rosy tones in the lipstick; however, in person it comes off much more brown on me.  I did wear the lipstick around the house last weekend and it is comfortable.  I actually forgot I had anything on for several hours.  The product lasted through a meal; however, once it started cracking and crumbling off it quickly became uncomfortable.  I would be interested in trying out this formula in a different color sometime.   The full sizes of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks retail for $20 for .22 oz of product.  This sample is .10 oz.

I am going to leave you with swatches of the products included in the kit on my hand.  As you can see in the above photo Lolita is much more brown, this is more similar to how it appears on my lips in person.  My overall thoughts on this kit are that it was worth it for me to try out Lolita alone.  I have been wanting to try the shade for quite some time, but it is always sold out.  Personally I am glad I tried it in the kit where I can try out many more products along side.

Like I mentioned above the kit is sold out online, but be sure to check your local stores.
