Valentia Organic Rosehip Oil Review

by - February 07, 2015

Hey guys!

Today I am going to share my thoughts on another product from Valentia.  If you remember I previously reviewed their Even Glow Serum at the beginning of September.  If you remember from that post I really enjoyed the serum so when I had the opportunity to review the Organic Rosehip Oil from Valentia I immediately jumped on it!

If you are like me then you might be curious to know what a Rosehip is.  Well I have an answer for you!  A Rosehip is actually the fruit of a rose plant, typically the Wild Dog Rose.  I know I personally have seen these in my Grandmother's garden for years, but never knew what they were called.  Rosehips are considered to be the best source of Vitamin C because they contain up to 50% more Vitamin C than an orange.

If you remember I have tried another Rosehip Oil from InstaNatural, and the scent of that product was strong from the moment I opened the bottle.  The scent of the Valentia Organic Rosehip Oil wasn't apparent when I initially opened the bottle; however, it now has the same scent.  I don't really care for the scent, but I find that I don't notice it after a few minutes.

I typically use the Valentia Organic Rosehip Oil just before bed as a replacement for my moisturizer.  It absorbs quickly into my skin and it doesn't leave any sticky residue behind.  Once it absorbs my skin doesn't feel oily and when I wake up in the morning my skin still isn't oily and it feels moisturized.

Valentia claims that their Organic Rosehip Oil can reduce fine lines and wrinkles because the Vitamin C and Lycopene antioxidants will promote healthy cell development and protect the skin from free radicals that lead to premature aging.  I can't say that I have experienced any reduction in fine lines and wrinkles since using this product, but I really don't have many to begin with.

The company also claims that the Rosehip Oil can reduce scars and burns due to high levels of fatty acids that work to speed up cell regeneration.  They also state that Vitamin A which is naturally occurring in Rosehip Oil will help to heal and improve any scar tissue left behind by acne, dermatitis and psoriasis scarring.  I also can't say that I noticed any improvement on some of the acne scarring I have, but again I don't really have a lot of scarring left behind from acne.

The next claim is that the company makes is that the Rosehip Oil will rehydrate the skin.  The essential fatty acids will lock in moisture and rehydrate the skin to keep it soft.  This claim I can say is very true.  Like I stated previously I typically apply this oil just before bed and I will wake up in the morning with my skin feeling hydrated and soft without being oily.

Valentia claims that the oil will even skin tone by repairing damage caused by environmental stresses such a s UV damage, hyper-pigmentation, and age spots with continued use of the product.  I can't make any claims to this because I really don't have any of these issues.  The final claim from Valentia is that the oil can strengthen nails and hair.  I also can't speak to this claim because I didn't try; however, I will likely put the oil on my cuticles in the future to keep them hydrated.

I can honestly say that I like that the consistency of this oil.  It is thin and is very easy to spread out.  I take about ten drops or an amount that is about the size of a nickel and put that on my face.  The oil absorbs quickly and doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy.  As I stated earlier I do not care for the scent; however, I find that I don't notice it after a few minutes.  Overall I really like this oil and highly recommend it!

If you would like to purchase the Valentia Organic Rosehip Oil you can find it on Amazon for $13.99 .  If you are thinking of picking up the Rosehip Oil and the Even Glow Serum you can get both for $48.99.  And if you want to see my review of the Valentia Even Glow Serum you can see that here.

I want to apologize that my review and swatches of the Jaclyn Hill Favorites Palette isn't up yet.  I promise it will be the next post so look forward to that!  By the way do you like my mug?
