What's New In Makeup And Beauty | May 17, 2019

Hello loves!

I know I have been quite absent again lately; however, I'm hoping to be more present again.  I started a new job closer to home so I have more time to dedicate to my hobbies.  With that said let's get into some of the latest releases.  I'm going to scroll Ulta, Sephora, Trendmood, and Beauty News on Instagram and see what I can find.

The first thing I have dug up on the Trendmood Instagram is a post about the new Viseart single shadows.  It looks like they have released 50 new shades of single eyeshadows on May 6th.  The shadows are $12 each and can be found at Muse Beauty.  If you go to the website the graphic to the left is much larger and it shows what palette the singles are from.  In my opinion if you own a lot of Viseart palettes you obviously don't need to buy these singles, but if there is a shade you love and have finished this is an amazing move from the brand.  They are also offering an empty palette for $15.   I also want to mention that the Muse Beauty website has the 50 singles broken down into the different finishes for easier shopping.

The next thing I see is the BH Cosmetics Santa Fe palette which is inspired by Santa Fe and "everything that makes Santa Fe unique."  If this is what makes Santa Fe unique I think we might need to go back to the drawing board because honestly the packaging and the pan design is the only really interesting thing about this palette.  The pan layout slightly bothers me, but at the same time it is still useable and I don't mind it so much.  However,  the palette is a ton of yellows and browns with just a few interesting pops of color.  The palette is also apparently scented in vanilla which makes no sense to me with this theme.   Also this palette is rather high priced for BH Cosmetics at $26 and I wish the colors were a bit more varied.

The next item I see is an exciting 6 pan green palette from Give Me Glow Cosmetics.  The palette is the Juicy Olive palette and contains 4 matte green shadows, and 2 foiled shadows available on June 1 (aka National Olive Day)for $30.   I have the Grunge palette by Give Me Glow and I have to say that the pans are massive, so keep that in mind with the price.  If you are screaming for greens, this is for you.  I'm going to pass because I don't tend to wear green very often and I have more than enough greens just from the Gemini palette.  Out of these six shadows, the ones that most interest me are the first shimmer from the top in the swatches to the left, and the very bottom matte.  That murky green I am living for, but I just know I will not reach for it very often.

Let's talk about the GlamLite Taco palette, shall we?  I really don't like this palette in any way.  The colors of the palette don't really scream taco to me.  Just a few colors out of the palette really.  Even the colors in the palette just aren't cohesive to me.  While the overall packaging design hits the mark with the theme, I just feel that it is a bit kitchy and kids makeup.  However, if you are interested the Taco palette can be pre ordered on the Glamlite website for $38.  According to their website, the Taco palette will start shipping on May 20.

Another one of the palettes that stands out to me is the new Spectral palette by Linda Hallberg Cosmetics.  What a perfect spring release full of beautiful pastel shadows.  Its definitely something unique as far as my own collection. The swatches of this palette don't look the best; however, that blue shimmer on the top row is stunning.  My only complaint about this palette are the dark purple in the bottom row.  I really wish this was replaced with another pastel shade.  Perhaps a yellow or something else that would go with the palette theme.  If we are going to go pastel then why don't we just go all the way?  However, I know that I would find a way to use that purple, probably as a liner.  The palette is an 8 pan palette that can be found on the Linda Hallberg website, and Beauty Bay for $59.  Also the marketing imagery for this palette is amazing!  I absolutely love the etherial video shoot full of the flowers and the pink smoke bomb.  It's so trendy and beautifully done.

Another perfect release for spring and summer is from Fenty Beauty.  They have released 7 bold lipsticks ($20 each) in every shade that screams summer.  Those lipsticks are all in corresponding lipstick bullets which I love so much.  The range includes some pinks and purples, a red, an orange, and two blues.  The collection also includes three sets of eyeliners that each contain three individual eyeliners.  One set contains  pastel pink, a white, and a pastel yellow.  Another set contains a tropical papaya, a tropical lime, and a tropical periwinkle.  The final set is a bold green, a bold berry, and a bold sky blue.  These liners all look like they are a brush applicator style.  Each set retails for $35 and can be found at Sephora.  The last thing from this release is a Pro Kiss'r lip balm ($18), and a Pro Kiss'r scrubstick ($16).  Personally I say don't go for the scrubstick.  ELF has one that is a similar concept for much less.  Otherwise the Lush potted lip scrubs are great, or you can make your own with some sugar.

Another palette release is a purple palette by Morphe Brushes.  The Such a Gem palette will contain 38 shadows in the newer format (like the 39A Dare To Create palette) for $35.  Overall the palette contains pinks and purples with half of the shadows being cooler, and half being warmer.  The palette also contains some browns and bronzes.  According to the Morphe website, the palette contains 32 rich and vibrant shades, 7 supersized toppers (middle row of the larger pans), and the shadows range from glittery to matte.  The palette is available now on the Morphe Brushes website.

I want to quickly mention that Juvia's Place is launching their range of 42 foundations on May 20th everywhere you can find Juvia's Place.  The foundations are going to be in a squeeze tube containing 1.6 fluid ounces of product for $20.  According to the brand, the formula of the foundation will be a buildable formula that can reach full coverage.  The foundation is also said to be vegan, cruelty-free, and contain no parabens or oils.  The foundation will also be long wearing with a velvet matte finish.  At this price, I have to say that I am going to be really interested.

Melt Cosmetics is now available at Sephora, and rumor has it that the brand is making the Gemini palette a permanent palette in their product line.  They have also brought back the Twenty-Seven palette (the sister palette to the Gemini palette), and the Smoke Sessions palette.  I have the Gemini palette, and I'm a tiny bit salty about them bringing the Gemini palette back as a permanent product.  I just happened into purchasing it with the very first release of the palette, and the fact that it has come back a few times and then now it's permanent if a bit cheeky.   They have also released their various stacks, lip products, blushes, and highlighters on Sephora's website.  Out of everything that they have on the website, I am most interested in the Twenty-Seven palette.  I wanted it when it released, but I hesitated because it was just something that I can dupe within my collection.

Hold on to your pants because it's Colourpop's birthday month.  If you have been around for a while, you know that they release a boat load of products for their birthday on top of all of he products they usually release.  On May 16th, they released a gorgeous watermelon collection for their fifth birthday which just screams summer to me.  The palette in the collection is called the Main Squeeze palette which is a 9 pan palette for $12.  The palette is full of red, coral, and orange toned shadows.  Accompanying those colors there is one gold shadow.  I have to say that I will pass on this only because I have these colors around in my collection and I don't wear them all that often; however, I feel that this is by far the item that stands out the most to me from the collection.  The collection also contains several bundles including a few lip bundles, a So Juicy lip, a face bundle with a watermelon seed oil and a watermelon face milk.  There are a few glitter products,  and as usual there is a pack for everything.  If you want the mega pack of all the products, the pack is $145 on their website.  Just like every single year, there is a special birthday Super Shock shadow in every order.

To wrap up I want to run through a few quick mentions.  These are the releases that aren't incredibly exciting; however, I want to mention them.  To start off, Becca has a summer collection that contains a luster highlighter, three lip tints, and a shimmering eye palette with three different finishes.  None of these items are groundbreaking, and they are all very Becca.  I haven't seen anything about a release date for this collection, and I haven't seen it released anywhere.  Keep an eye on Becca's Instagram for more information if you are interested.

The next order of business comes from KKW Beauty.  In honor of Kim and Kanye's wedding anniversary, they are releasing the Mrs. West collection on May 24th.  The collection contains an eyeshadow palette that is full bridal wear and gorgeous; however, extremely common for $30.  There is a creme lipstick ($18), a lip liner ($12), a gloss ($18), a golden champagne highlighter ($20), and a blush ($18).  The lip bundle is $42 and contains all three lip products, or the full collection vault is $100.  The packaging is gorgeous and the colors of everything is also gorgeous and really wearable.  I personally am less than interested because I have these colors a few times over in my drawers, and I'm doing my best to use the things I already own.  It's highly likely that I'm going to shop my stash to make a little palette like this because I could really see myself using them to get ready quickly during the week.

The last thing I see of note is from Juvia's Place.  I know I mentioned their foundation release above; however, I see that they have released a new palette that contains mostly neutral shadows with a few warm tones and a coral.  Is it just me or is coral the new pop of color this year?  This palette is part of the Nubian line of palettes from Juvia's place, and I'm not mad about it.  I have the Nubian 1 and Nubian 2; however, I'm passing on this palette because I bought the Sultry palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills which has the nude shadows with a pop of coral.

Like I said above, I'm hoping to be back on a regular basis and I'm definitely hoping to keep these updates going at least once a month.  Now that the Gemini palette appears to be a permanent fixture in the Melt line of products, I have plans to share some swatches and my thoughts on the palette soon, so keep an eye out for that too.  If you run across any new releases that sound interesting be sure to drop those down below!
